Sorry I’ve been silent the past few days. But I have some exciting news:
This little WordPress.com blog of mine is soon to become defunct, pending my ability to beat out all the kinks in my new WordPress.org site formatting. I’ve transferred all my content over to my swanky new place and am now going through my posts, working out all the stuff that didn’t copy quite right. It’ll be a little while before it’s 100%, given how many posts I have to fix. But I’ll get there.
In the meantime, I’ll be transferring all my lovely follows (that is, you guys) over to the new site. As far as I know, you won’t have to do anything to make the move. I have a plugin that should do all the heavy lifting for you — with one caveat. If you subscribed via the WordPress reader instead of by email but you have email updates selected in your reader options for my blog, you’ll need to subscribe via email over at my new site to continue receiving email updates. WordPress.org, unfortunately, doesn’t support email updates via the WordPress.com reader. However, my new blog’s posts should appear in your reader, same as usual.
Since I’ve never done this sort of migration before, please let me know if something goes horribly wrong on your end, yeah?
Anyway, my usual posts will be suspended for at least a week or so until I’ve beat most of the formatting errors out of my posts over at the new place (and finished setting up important things, like the menu). But all my actual content is over there now, more or less the same as it’s represented here. So if you want to go ahead and start paying attention to the new and (sort of) improved Knite Writes, you can safely do that.
Once I’ve finished fixing everything up over there, I’m going to put a final notice on this blog redirecting newcomers to the new place. That I will leave up for some time, until my new blog starts populating search results properly and what not. Then I’ll be closing old faithful here down for good and will solely work from the new place.
In case you’re wondering why I decided to move…well, there’s about a dozen answers to that questions. Customization. Monetization. SEO. Analytics. A ton of reasons. But really, they all add up to a better blog in the end, hopefully on both sides of the equation (yours and mine).
So I’ll see you all the flip side, yeah?
NOTE: I posted this post to both sites to ensure that everybody sees it. You are not crazy.
Here’s what I did in writing and reading this week!
- I wrote 7,000 words for Epitaphs, my next book.
- I wrote the first scene for Cerberus in Vogue, my first novella.
- I published Venus in Red, my short story for The Telepath Chronicles, as a stand-alone. You can get it for $0.99 (or FREE with Kindle Unlimited)!😀
